PETER & JACQUIE BROOK - STUDENT LIFE
There are nearly 800,000 university students around the country. Most of them still do not know Jesus in a personal way. Over 10% of these students are international students, many of whom come from ‘closed’ countries where they have little chance to hear the Gospel. Peter and Jacquie Brook work with Student Life, reaching out to these university students. Peter is the Deputy National Ministry Leader and works at the National Office here in Toowoomba. He jointly oversees the 85 missionaries that work in Student Life as well as coordinating the yearly short-term missions. One of Peter’s new roles is pioneering Student Life’s international ministry; seeking to plant a new Student Life ministry in Nagoya, Japan.
Peter is also a director of Campus Crusade for Christ, Australia (CCCA), Student Life’s parent organisation. Not only does he provide leadership there, he also oversees the International Ministries and Member Care departments of CCCA.
Jacquie’s primary role is supporting Peter and caring for their children, Joellen and Genevieve. As the children are growing up, she has taken on more ministry roles. Currently she is mentoring a number of women missionaries and leading a Bible Study for missionaries at USQ. She is also part of WAVES, a group that advises the Student Life national leadership of the needs of women in the ministry of Student Life.

GRANT & LIZ LINNEMAN - IMPACTING UQ FOR CHRIST
University Impact - “Seeking to build Christ-centred labourers on the campus for the Kingdom and glory of God.”
What makes the difference? The Grace of God through His Son Jesus Christ. I am convinced from the Bible and it is confirmed the more I interact with students; the only person who can make a lasting difference in someone’s life is Jesus.
Will you pray? That God by His grace would bring people to saving faith in Christ and grow them into mature disciples.
We would value your prayers as we seek to invest in men and women in the colleges at UQ. Pray that the Lord would lead people to faith and repentance as the Gospel goes out and for us to help Christians to grow and be equipped to have an influence for Christ in all aspects of their life.
Please also be in prayer for a team of 7 students and 2 staff that are travelling to Khon Kaen, Thailand in November for an 8-week short term mission, partnering with Campus Outreach at Khon Kaen University. Pray for the Lord to raise their needed support and to use them to take the love of Christ to Thai students.
On a personal note, Liz and I are enjoying married life and appreciate your prayers, thoughts and support. Please continue to pray for us as we seek to fulfil Jesus’ command to “make disciples of all nations”. Thank you!
ROB MCCUBBEN - TEEN CHALLENGE
T
een Challenge has run the residential drug rehabilitation program at the “New Life Centre” in Toowoomba since 2001. They can take up to 24 young men aged from 16 to 30 years.
Rob McCubben, has been the team leader for Toowoomba, managing the day to day running of the facility for the past 2.5 years but from October will be concentrating on casework. He and Paula and their children Louisa, Jordie and Hannah, are members of Rangeville Community Church.
The program runs from 12 to 18 months and includes the following topics: looking at self image; family relationships; working responsibility; and spiritual & character growth through a Christian framework.
Teen Challenge has been greatly blessed by the generous support of churches, businesses and individuals over the last year which has enabled us to expand to cater for up to 24 young men with four live in supervisors. This has also meant an increase to four caseworkers ministering at the New Life Centre. The difference made in the lives of the young men who enter the program is immeasureable. This year has also seen the implementation of community partnerships to enhance work & training opportunities. Establishing a facility for girls has moved closer with plans being drawn and considered.
